hello oscars! is anyone else as excited as i am?
amy adams in oscar de la renta.
where be thine make-up, ms. adams? a little rouge or even some glittery eye shadow would have gone a long way. is it just me or do i feel like oscar de la renta has made the same gown in varying hues FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?! adams looks like every other starlet who has worn his dresses to the oscars from the past decade. but there is something off about this one. lackluster even. like someone got bored halfway through sewing on all that tulle.
equally as lovely is jacki weaver. it is well-documented that weaver is actually ursula the sea witch from the little mermaid so it is good to see she has toned down her witchy ways (cue THATsong. am i right MC!) that colour is smashing, age appropriate and she is dressing like she can win even though we all know she won’t. you go weaver.
and we have hathaway, who apparently decided that the best way to announce her entrance was with her nipples and saggy breasts. way to go hathaway. she looks hideous. i know the fashionistas want to love her cause she once starred in a film called ‘the devil wears prada’ (which actually wasn’t that fashion forward) but here in prada she looks like a box. a satin box. a tired satin box. a tired satin box with nipples and saggy breasts. someone get this girl a credible stylist because the stylist who is currently employed by hathaway clearly hates her.
ok kidman, you look amazing. for those who actually pay attention to my ramblings (which i don’t think any of you actually should, even i am aren’t that amused by the shit i talk) i have a serious love/hate relationship with kidman. i am baffled by how someone can go from being one of the greatest actress living (to die for, the hours, rabbit hole, dead calm) to someone who is unwatchable on screen (moulin rogue!, australia, birthday girl). but this dress is gorgeous and she is glowing here. if i own this i would wear it everywhere. the dentist! my evening stroll! the markets! well, probably not the markets cause like elaine from seinfeld, i don’t really enjoy going to the markets. but everywhere else for sure.

Hey, I’m back. I wasn’t planning on being back so quickly but I just couldn’t stay away.
I just took these photos. The first one is some illustrations I’ve been doing with watercolor and the DVD’s I’ve been obsessed with. “The Day Before – Loic Prigent”. They’re so good. It’s basically the 36 hours before a fashion show for particular designers. I think I’ve almost watched them all.
The second photo is some beautiful fabrics I bought at “The Fabric Store”.
And the third is the new Gorman a/w 13 look book. I like Gorman’s prints, they also have really comfortable shoes. My faves from the lookbook are the; Ellie malin + gorman collage landscape pant and the unique new york dress.
taking a break

I’m just going to be taking a break for a little while. As I’ve mentioned, I’ve just started a new course, so I think I need to dedicate my time to that for now. Hopefully I wont be away for too long, I’ll see you soon!

Hey guys! I’m introducing a new feature to my blog; ‘queen of rococo’. I am bringing ‘queen of rococo’ to you because I really believe it should be shared with the world.
The mastermind behind this feature is my dear friend Samuel. Samuel is super intelligent, he is an academic and I’m pretty sure his main area of study is cinema. Every now and then Sam has been known to post images from recent award shows on facebook followed by his own commentaries; which are highly entertaining. Basically Sam’s thoughts on what the celebrities are wearing.
This first one is from the recent BAFTA – British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

also, because MB is too lazy to do his own research, this time i am providing the names of the contenders and the gowns they are wearing. i hope you are happy matt! i am working my fingers to the bone for you!
the dress is wrong. the colour is washed out, the floral motif looks cheap,the cut is frumpy, and despite the fact that she was inspired to dye her hair pink from america’s next top model, the hair really does look bizarre. but she spent most of her stint on the red carpet twirling and it is hard to zing someone who is super talented, clearly loves life, and doesn’t give a fuck what any of us think. we love you helen mirren. please never change.
first off i have to say i watched W.E., in which andrea stars as wallis simpson. i feel so wrong for saying this but madonna did a half decent job directing. it was very fashion orientated and focused on some beautiful textures and made me vow to myself that i will now only buy expensive things. not a bad feat. here, i don’t know. again, it is a dress that screams the signature of the designer but it doesn’t really seem to fit. also the black finger nails and black hair? hmmmmmm.
god, she is boring. i think she may be the new sienna miller. anyway, i love this photo. it looks like she has sprouted wings but only on one side of her body. this dress is lovely, and that colour: HELLO!! but even still, it is kind of boring.
i don’t know who this person is. after googling her i still don’t really know who she is or why she was the baftas. but honey, it is a publicity opportunity! at least make some sort of effort!

I have been busy with some home organisation lately.
I stumbled across a cool haberdashery store in the nicholas building. i loved these mushrooms.
I made some yummy treats for morning tea. I’ll show you in my next post.
My lecturer showed us this cool book in class.
Delicious donuts at Movida Bakery for breakfast. Blueberry Custard is my new fave.
I bought these treats to take to my mums house. Chocolate cake with wild strawberries and coffee custard and mango tart. yum.
And also, they make amazing coffee at Movida Bakery.

supplies
Today was my first day of fashion school. It’s only orientation so it’s just business, things like timetables, form filling, campus navigation and stuff like that. It’s still pretty exciting.
We got a few lists, I love lists, one list was for suppliers and the others were equipment lists; so things that we’ll be using in the classes. I have some of the things but will need to go shopping for the rest.
The course leader emailed us a supplier list which is pretty cool, it will just make it a little bit easier to find the things that I’ll need. The supplier list is just made up of places to go to buy fabric, machine accessories, haberdasheries, sewing supplies etc. The name of the supplier is listed, a blurb about their specialisation, the address and contact details. I can see this list coming in very handy.
I visited Buttonmania today, it’s in the Nicholas Building on Swanston Street. There are also a lot of other creative studios in that building, so it was a nice little adventure.
spicks and specks of my life
There was no foto friday yesterday because I actually didn’t take many pictures while I was at home sick. But there will definitely be many for you to see next Friday.
Here are some of the clothes I got from Marcs for staff allowance. They seem a bit basic, I guess that’s because they are. I would have preferred the red skinny jeans instead of the black but I needed new black jeans. The cotton knit is a really lovely colour and i especially love the specks of red and blue through it. The black dress is kind of a tradition. I do love black, and I do love dresses, but now it’s become like a tradition. Each time we get a clothing allowance I have bought one black dress, i’ve got four of them now. I’ll do a post on them one day soon.
