marathon fact

This is one of those quick filler posts because I just got home and am sleepy and am about to go to bed. But. Even though it’s a filler it’s still interesting. Well I think it is anyway. I was out for dinner tonight with my friends, I’ll post some photos I took of it tomorrow for you. It was pretty funny because one of my friends just kept telling us about these cool random facts. I now see him as a human version of wikipedia. Go Jye!

I was telling everyone about the new app I downloaded; 5K runner and how I love it and how it’s totally awesome and how I’m thinking of doing the 10K one after I finish. That’s me being a bit ambitious. Any way, then we started talking about marathons and Jye blurts out this fact: (I’ve copied it from Wikipedia, it’s pretty much word for word what my friend Jye said, it’s just quicker for me to copy and paste, rather than typing it from memory šŸ˜› )

“TheĀ marathonĀ is a long-distance running event with an official distance of 42.195 kilometres (26 miles and 385 yards),[1]Ā that is usually run as aĀ road race. The event was instituted in commemoration of the fabled run of theĀ GreekĀ soldierĀ Pheidippides, a messenger from theĀ Battle of MarathonĀ to Athens.”

– wikipedia.

Interesting right? Yep, exactly. If you haven’t heard of 5K runner theres a mini free download, you should check it out.
