THE WARDROBE REPORT: New Skirt
So to start off with....here is my latest purchase...the CYRA skirt:
This will probably be my last purchase for the winter season, which is funny because it was the first thing I wanted to buy.
Instead of getting this skirt, I bought the NORA, which became a staff favourite. Almost everyone that works at Alpha bought one and all the customers loved it too. So much so that it instantly sold out and they had to re-cut it.
I chose the Nora over this because of the movement. In the Nora you're movement isn't restricted, whereas with the Cyra it is. This is just an outcome of the cocoon shape. It causes a small circumference at the bottom, which then only allows for a short-stride. It's fine for certain things, but if you're running for a tram, you need to hike it up so you can actually run. But the funny thing is now that I own it, the short-stride is one of my fave things. When I pair it with my fave Lee Matthews Slides and a pair of socks I feel like a Geisha taking small considered steps. A reminder to slow down and take my time.
Another thing I love about this skirt is the cotton fabric - it's a cool texture and finish. Visually it's appealing. It can be worn with all the things, dressy tops, knits, t-shirts. Whatever you want. That's the thing with most Alpha clothes, you can so easily style them up or down. Winter23 was my season of long black skirts. This was my 4th one. They just had great skirts this season. I'll share the others with you another time.
One more fashion thought.
I just want to wear black and white again. Not really feeling colourful these days. Could just be the fact that we're in the middle of winter, the days are short and the sun is often hiding from us. Most people I know have been saying the same about wanting to get back to black.
